Oak Hall School (OHS) has a rich history in the private education sector. The OHS team operate out of an incredible institution but their website had aged significantly. There were major issues with usability stemming from the fact that the website was being used as a portal for prospective parents and well as current parents and students.
I consulted with the OHS team to understand issues of user journey throughout the site as well as their needs for major pieces of functionality on the site. In addition to better serving current families they also needed to have a school wide, filterable calendar and filterable sports team listings that included team members, results and team schedules.
To solve the issue of muddied user journeys - my solution was to create a current families hub on the website that would serve students currently enrolled - this would house forms, schedules, calendars that were pertinent to those families. I housed this hub in a full page menu design that is beautiful and useable. In line with the OHS team's goals we prioritized prospective families and separated the hub.
We tested iterations of calendar functionality and sports team listing functionality and I then worked with our development team to have the hub, menus, calendars and listings realized on the live site ensuring they worked seamlessly into the web design.
The Oak Hall School website won a 2023 Silver Addy for Consumer Website.
