"Duncan's work was exceptional. His creativity provided a great jumping off point for us to collectively tweak and co-evolve the design into exactly what we were hoping for. He's incredibly professional and his communication is quick, clear, and friendly."
Greer Gosnell, Post Doc Research Fellow, Grantham Research Institute & LSE
Pow-dr, originally PowBal, is the commercialization of a post doc research project at the London School of Economics and Imperial College London. When Greer first reached out, the team had very little idea what they wanted or needed. After an initial brand consultation the decision was taken to change the name from PowBal. We brainstormed and decided on Pow-dr adding the .io for most uses.
The logo needed a strong icon and needed to work when printed on a physical product as well as used across a wide range of digital contexts. The nature of the product (still mainly a secret) had to do with the economic use of power in the home. We used the imagery of a sand timer for the icon and I coupled this with a custom font for the word mark and an electric dash. This was all packaged in a powerful but professional color scheme and with an additional icon for use with the product's accompanying app.
All in all a versatile brand that can be taken in a number of directions for a number of uses without losing its look and feel.
